Bitstamp Login — Quick Guide to Signing In & Troubleshooting
Everything you need to sign into your Bitstamp account, secure access with 2-factor authentication, and recover access if something goes wrong.
Overview
Bitstamp is a regulated cryptocurrency exchange that requires a verified account and secure authentication for access. This guide covers how to log in on desktop and mobile, enable or reset Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), common login errors and fixes, and how to start account recovery if you lose access.
How to sign in (Web & Mobile)
- Open your browser and go to the official Bitstamp website: bitstamp.net.
- Click Sign in (top-right). Enter the email address you registered with and your password.
- If you enabled 2FA, you will be prompted to enter the code from your authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy) or the SMS code if you chose SMS 2FA.
- After successful entry, you will be logged into your Bitstamp dashboard.
Tip: Always confirm you are on the correct domain (bitstamp.net) to avoid phishing attempts.
Set up & reset Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
2FA adds an extra security layer. Use an authenticator app for best security (more secure than SMS). To set up:
- Go to Settings → Security in your Bitstamp account.
- Choose Enable 2FA, scan the QR code with your authenticator app, and save the recovery codes in a secure place.
If you lose access to your 2FA device, use the recovery codes you saved when enabling 2FA. If you don't have recovery codes, start account recovery by contacting Bitstamp Support (see below) and be ready to verify identity.
Common login problems & fixes
- Forgot password: Click Forgot password on the sign-in page and follow the reset link sent to your registered email.
- 2FA codes not accepted: Ensure your phone clock is set to automatic network time (TOTP codes depend on accurate time). Try resyncing the authenticator or using recovery codes.
- No verification email: Check spam/junk folders and search your mailbox for emails from
@bitstamp.net. If nothing appears, contact support. - Account locked or suspicious activity: Follow on-screen instructions and contact support immediately.
Account recovery steps
If you cannot access your account because you lost your password and 2FA, Bitstamp will require identity verification. Typical steps include:
- Submitting identity documents (ID, selfie) via Bitstamp’s secure support portal.
